Part 3 You will hear a telephone message that Sue has left for her friend Polly.

You now have twenty seconds to look at Part Three. Sue: Hi Polly. This is Sue. I don't think so! A n y w a y , they said w h a t about if we go to the campsite just outside Guilsfield, that's G-U-I-L-S-F-I-E-L-D - that's a village over the border in W a l e s - so we can catch a bus to the village, a n d then it's not far to the campsite, so we'll walk from the bus stop. It's on a farm. I stayed there once, about five years ago, with M u m a n d Dad a n d we had a car then of course, but we'll be OK.

A n d it's a beautiful spot, so I said yes. Well, you've got a tent w h i c h doesn't w e i g h too much, so can you bring that, cos it won't be as heavy to carry as ours? There's no need to bring m u c h food because we c a n eat at the f a r m h o u s e - they do great evening meals - but we need s o m e t h i n g for boiling water for drinks.

A n d I'll bring coffee a n d we'll buy milk in the village w h e n we get there. M u m says we must get the tent up before dark on Friday, which is a b o u t eight, so we must m e e t outside the mall at quarter to four so we c a n get the four o'clock bus. We'll be there by five, then. I'm so excited! Call me back soon. Part 4 Look at the six sentences for this part. You now have twenty seconds to look at the questions for Part Four.

Mani: Hello? James: Mani, hi! Mani: Sure, I'm on the bus. James: Well, look, my m u m a n d d a d have just - I can't believe it, you'll never guess - Mani: OK, so w h a t is it? James: T h e y ' v e only decided we're g o n n a live in s o m e village - out in the middle of nowhere!

James: Not for me, that's for sure. Dad says it'll cut our living costs because houses aren't so expensive there but I don't see it. I mean, we'll spend m o r e on petrol getting to the city, w o n ' t w e? Mani: But y o u r m u m a n d dad work from home, a n d you've got y o u r student card for the bus. James: If there is one.

Buses don't often go to the countryside n o w a d a y s. A n y w a y not in the evenings. I'll be stuck out there, like, with no social life. James: Like -? Mani: Well, like, um, oh - I know, yeah! Well, n o w y o u can say that you've got to have one so they don't have to drive you everywhere.

He can't argue with that, c a n he? James: Mani, you're brilliant. That's perfect! Yeah, I'll be able to use it to go to school a n d get s o m e really g o o d gear, y o u know, a leather j a c k e t and everything. She said she didn't w a n t me going a r o u n d on a motorbike cos they're not safe, specially at night; she says I'm too y o u n g a n d irresponsible.

She'd never agree. James: Yeah, perhaps. G u e s s it's worth trying. Mani: Oh, here's my stop. Catch y o u later? James: Yeah, Bye.

I gave him golf balls last year a n d he s e e m e d really pleased, but I can't think of anything else. You've got him a n e w mobile, haven't you? Test 1 Key One. How will the girl get to the tennis match? Girl: Y e a h but my sister's going to the dentist so she can't drive me there. I'll have to walk. Boy: I'm getting the bus, so we could go together. Girl: I can't afford it. It's OK. It's not too far. It will only take about half an hour. My sister c a n take us h o m e in the car afterwards.

Which photo are they looking at? Girl: I took lots of photos w h e n we w e n t to the zoo. Here's the best one. Boy: It's a g o o d photo but y o u can hardly see the zebra because the elephant's standing in front of it. Girl: That's just a branch. What time is the girl's appointment? Girl: I'm going out now, Dad, to meet my friends. I'll be back at four. Y o u need to be back before four. Girl: T h e y rang a n d c h a n g e d it to twenty-five past because they're really busy.

So I'll need to leave here at ten past four. Dad: OK. That's fine then. See y o u later, [pause] Now listen again. What will the boy eat?

W o m a n : Dinner will be ready soon, Peter. Is that OK? Just the chips. You'll be hungry later. It won't take long. Boy: I'll have t h e s a u s a g e s but you k n o w I'm not keen on e g g s or fish, [pause] Now listen again. How much will the girl spend on the swimsuit?

Girl 1: Hi Louisa. Well which one should I get? I know she w e a r s blue a lot but they've only got one blue one in her size a n d it costs thirty-five pounds. There's a purple one which is twenty-five pounds or a b r o w n one which is only twelve pounds.

Girl 2: Mm, get t h e purple one, I think. It's not too expensive a n d it won't look too c h e a p either. Girl 1: O K. Brown's really boring a n d she's got a blue one already a n y w a y , [pause] Now listen again. Which instrument can the children learn on Tuesday this week?

Teacher: Listen carefully, children. T h e guitar teacher is unwell so there w o n ' t be any lessons with her on T u e s d a y. T h e r e will be violin lessons instead on that day. People learning the guitar will have an extra lesson on T u e s d a y next week.

Piano lessons will be on T h u r s d a y as usual. So r e m e m b e r to bring y o u r instruments on the right day. What did Stephen do yesterday evening? Boy: Oh, my m u m wouldn't let me w a t c h it because I hadn't finished my h o m e w o r k.

So I had to go to my room. But then friends kept texting me, so I spent all e v e n i n g on t h e phone. So I still haven't d o n e it. Girl: Oh, that's a s h a m e. Because there's another match on tonight. You'll miss that one too. Boy: I know, [pause] Now listen again. Interviewer: T o d a y we have in the studio Anita Burroughs, w h o is a professional ice-skater.

Hi Anita. Anita: It's great to be here. Interviewer: So, Anita, have y o u always been interested in ice-skating? Anita: Since I w a s a very small child. I w a s lucky that my m o t h e r w a s also a professional ice-skater a n d she w a s able to teach me, so we didn't have to pay for a teacher. But s o m e t i m e s I couldn't enter competitions as we didn't have the m o n e y for the special clothes, w h i c h cost a lot.

T h e r e w a s an ice rink in a sports stadium that wasn't far from w h e r e we lived, so we could be there in a f e w minutes. T h a t helped w h e n I w a s practising before school. Interviewer: Y o u do s h o w s on ice, don't y o u? Anita: Yes, so I have to act as well as skate. O u r tours last for ten months, so I'm w o r k i n g all year except during the s u m m e r. Interviewer: W h a t ' s the hardest thing about t h e j o b? Anita: Lots of people miss their family but I don't have children y e t a n d I visit my m u m a n d d a d on my free days.

I find the long practices before a s h o w really hard but w h e n I'm performing on the ice, I no longer feel tired. Interviewer: You're quite well k n o w n now. Anita: It's g o o d of course. I love being on the ice but I'm not so keen on doing interviews.

Because I'm nervous I always talk too much. Radio interviews are easier than TV interviews as y o u don't have a c a m e r a on y o u too. Interviewer: Has ice-skating c h a n g e d since y o u started? But the a u d i e n c e s w a n t it to be more a n d more exciting, so the j u m p s are higher a n d involve lots of difficult turns.

T h e tours are longer too. I don't k n o w about other countries. Interviewer: W h a t are the most important skills for a successful ice-skater? Anita: Well, y o u have to be a very strong skater of course. Y o u need to notice what's h a p p e n i n g a r o u n d y o u as there might be thirty other skaters on the ice with you, so y o u need to w o r k together.

Interviewer: Well, t h a n k y o u very much, Anita, for talking to me. Every term there are different subjects to c h o o s e from.

This term the university is offering classes in history a n d also g e o g r a p h y. I know lots of y o u did the science classes last term. T h e classes are in the university building in C r a i g w o o d Road, a small road just off t h e High Street. So you can easily walk there f r o m school. It will take about ten minutes. Our school term begins on the sixth of J a n u a r y but the university t e r m doesn't begin until a w e e k later, so the first class will be on the eighteenth of January.

That's ten w e e k s altogether. It will cost five pounds per class, so that's fifty p o u n d s for t h e w h o l e term. T h e y will give y o u a notebook to write in. So, if you're interested, pick up a f o r m from the school office. Y o u need to get your parents to sign it a n d bring it back. If your parents w a n t any more information, they can ring the university office. I'll write it on the board Are there any questions?

Harry: Hi Jessie. Jessie: I haven't had a good afternoon. I w e n t out with Martina a n d I didn't really enjoy it because she had s o m e Italian friends with her. Harry: So? Harry: Y e a h I do NOT give out my number so therefore I can not use a lot of them. Please do not say FREE when they are not. Are these sites legally hosting books or are they stolen from authors?
